View Full Version : 1.8T misfiring at high revs

When I really boot my 1.8t it misfires quite violently making the car lurch (almost like engine cutting out for a split second). Could it be the turbo? It has just had the cylinder head reconned and new valves etc. The garage has guaranteed the work for 12 months. Anyone any ideas what could be the matter? It drives really smooth when driving conservatively (below 3000 rpm)

Would it be worth checking the plenum drain thingy? I've read a lot about this and it could be a factor? I have only had the car a few weeks. Drives lovely until I really put foot down. I don't normally drive like a boy racer but I like it to respond correctly when the time comes. Plugs and leads are new. Anyone know where I can get cheap coil packs from?

Mine was doing exactly the same. Turned out to be a spark plug arcing.

Same here - I changed the plugs, leads and coils and still had a problem.

Changed the leads again and presto - it was fixed. Start with the leads, apparently they were a "cheaper" lead and were arching. (so I'm told).
