Picked up the car from the garage with a nice new MoT, this is the first Rover Ive had since a 1980's 3500 SD1 and its the first Automatic since then too :).

I hope this doesn't sound too stupid a question but at the gear lever there is a sliding push switch marked S (Frost Symbol) E at a rough guess I'd say the S is for sports and E is for Economy but is there a marked difference in fuel usage on either setting? Not that I'm bothered about it but if every time I go for a pint of milk is going to be 20 plus miles it might be useful.

PS Love the car wish Id bought one earlier :)

The snow flake symbol is for 'Snow' keeps your gears low, and stops to much power going to the wheels, to preventing you spinning wheels. You will see the symbol light up on your clocks.
The other mode is 'Sport' gives you that bit extra bumph.... but will return less mpg

When starting the car the gearbox automatically goes into 'normal' mode, so unless your selecting modes, mpg to the shops wont change
