Just a quick few questions........

what are the 3 screw holes for in the middle of the steering wheel ? (pic1)

does it matter that the one i want to fit has not got them ? ( pic2)

if it should have them....does it make the wheel useless ??

Thank you for your expertise in advance guys.

I'm sure that's where the steering damper was fitted on some early Models.

Be fine to fit the wheel as is.

Yes, they are for the optional steering wheel vibration damper. Didn't make
any difference on my car and they are hard to source.

So. ...... what were they ? Just lumps of rubber, like the bits on the rear shocks ?

they are a concoction of heavy metal and rubber.

I think they were fitted to early diesels to limit vibration, through the steering wheel on tick over, but were dropped under Project Drive
