i was driving my car to bruntingthorpe, she was running lovely THEN......

all of a sudden she started shaking, it was the feeling like going over the bumpy white lines.

got her to the show ok, but the return journey not so good.

sthe rumbly feeling kept coming back with an added noise. it was a deep loud noise i suppose like whiring. both of these were getting worse...

but then we heard a very loud what sounded like a cats bell noise, what sounded like something just broke and then fell off the car??

straight after whatever it was that came off the car, the rumbly and noises stopped instantly and she drove lovely again??

please any advice is extremely gratefully recieved

Worth checking the undertray as Ron says, also have a look at the wheelarch liners & also the front springs, if one's broken & been rubbing on a tyre or inside of the wheel you could get that sensation & the "cat's bell" noise as the broken bit was rattling, unless you've picked something up on the road which has been trapped in the wheel area

Have you had a look underneath to see if anything's amiss? It might just have been something caught in the wheel, or on the tyres maybe?

i have just been out and had a look underneath, here is what i have found.

pass front

that small screw came out when i touched it

other than that it all seemed quite solid, i also found this

then on the rear drivers side Rob found this

what is that hanging down right by the rear wheel?

Wheel arch liner or mudflap..

The loose screw on the headlamp inspection cover wants three quarters of a turn.

Check the under car exhaust heat shields are still in place. If one initially came loose, it could have been banging on the underside of the car if the airflow, and then when it broke loose the bell sound could have been it striking the exhaust on the way out.

That doesn't look so good.

Just a thought, but have you checked the air-con is working, I had a similar fault with a freelander a few years ago and it turned out to be the compressor giving up the ghost.

took her out today and the air con was working.

a little update, i turned a sharpish right and drove slowly down a road and it sounded like a had a little bird tweeting at me from the front of the car

it seemed to only do it on a sharp right, it didnt do it on a sharp left

the road was straight with a downhill slope and i was driving slowly. it made this tweeting noise all the way down it? i didnt have my foot on the break.

Check the inside of the tyre treads, the inner wall on my fronts collapsed on me, had no idea until I had a abs sensor changed as the outer wall looked good.
