When removing/frefitting front seats, Haynes says replace the 4 mounting bolts with new ones. Then later it says if new bolts are not availabe, clean the old ones and re-use, with threadlocking fluid.

So, to replace or not to replace? Does it matter?

thanks, David

Not to me,i just re-used the originals without anything on them:shrug: I suppose the "Health and safety" brigade will be out in a minute, saying "What if" but,i say,"What are the chances?" ;)

I've yet to read of anyone actually renewing these bolts. I once asked at an MGR main dealer if they renewed them and the service manager said they'd never renewed them.
The correct bit for these is a Ribe 8.

The 'use new bolts' instruction was probably to ensure that they had threadlock on them, and to try to prevent dealers fitting the bolts without a fresh lot of thread-lock - that is my theory anyway. A sort of rear-end covering exercise.

T-Cut - a TX50 bit seems to fit perfectly, how do you tell the difference?
