On our diesel tourer the outside temperature readings are erratic, unless we have been having some very strange weather!

Is it a bad connection or is the sensor on the way out?

Thank you

Loss of signal from the ambient temperature sensor will cause the ECU to display a default -30C readout. When it's reconnected, the temperature display will correct itself over a period of hours to a day or so.

The usual cause is a bad connection between the sensor and harness. The sensor is (should be) mounted on a clip on the rear side of the front bumper.
