Went for an overtake yesterday. Was in 5th at around 60ish, missed 4th ended up in 2nd briefly. Dipped the clutch but engine management light on, and engine now won't start.
Fault code reads crankshaft position sensor.
Seems odd that the sensor died on one over-rev.
Any idea how to test the sensor and/or possible other cause?
All cam belts were changed 5000 miles ago with adjusters and water pump.
Hope belt hasn't snapped or jumped a tooth or two!

Looks like it was the post cat O2 sensor.
After removing the sensor's connector, the fuse stopped blowing. I've cut and tapped the wire heater wires and driven the car 5 miles, no blown fuse. Hopefully that's cure that.:D

A bizarre fault. Glad you found it.

Driven the ZT for 25 miles now without a problem.
On closer inspection of one of the white wires, it looks slightly damaged near where the wires exit the O2 sensor, there's a metal lip which the wire may have been chafing on.
When I get time, I'll reconnect the white wires again to determine if the heater circuit goes short after a while.
