Hi Guys after some advice. In all my previous cars when I first buy them, and after giving it a full service the first thing I have done is added a fuel additive/Injector cleaner. With never owning a Rover 75 before would I be ok doing this.

I normally use Redex injector cleaner and have never had a problem with it in the past.

By the way my car is a 1.8 Petrol non turbo engine.

I use Redex Injection Cleaner on a regular basis. Not all the time, about every other tankfull.
But it's a personal choice, others will say it's a waste of money, but then so is alcohol and cigarettes.... :)

The 5th Gear program rated Redex. This sold it to me and I have started using it. :D

Keep meaning to try Redex, I saw the 5th Gear programme as well. Used Forte fuel system cleaner before, dunno if it made a difference or not

I will be arranging a meet for the North West soon that includes the Terraclean fuel system cleaner.

Far and away better than any bottle of stuff off the shelf in my opinion, but don't take my word for it, there is a thread somewhere on it.

Used Redex after its last service. Now I will get some fuel cleaner too.

I put cataclean in my car and it made a big difference to the running and exhaust note. One thing worth noting is the fuel you use. I use esso and the additives give more mpg and car has more response. (MPG is about 2 mpg better than say Murco fuel or other brands.);)

Beat me to it. Certainly convinced me to use it and I have to say it does seem a lot better. There are much more expensive additives out these but for £2 when on special at Asda or other supermarkets, its a no brainer.

I use it every couple of months now and I have a lot less smoke and pic up is better.

Wow, that was an interesting watch. You read so many times people saying that it makes no difference at all, but maybe that's because the difference is so slight. It clearly does help your car though.

Not put any through the ZT yet, but I will now...

Off to asda!

Agree, A good watch.

I use Millers fuel treatment on every fill. I just continued what Ti-Rich started when he had the car.

A friend of mine drives taxis and does mega miles and he swears by Millers just before the mot and it flies through the emissions.:}

Many modern fuels contain additives and detergents required, not sure about the supermarket stuff though. If funds allow, treat the car to a tank of V-Power, it works great in the KV6..

I've just been to Halfords to get some fuel cleaner and they have the larger 500ml bottle FREE with 5 litres of engine oil. Normal price is £8.49 so if you take that off the oil price of £21.99 it make my oil just £13.50. Bargain.

The larger bottle also cleans 4 tanks of fuel so I now have a years supply if I add it every 3 months or so?

Bg44k or its diesel counterpart. Expensive but worth doing on old cars. It made my cars less hesitant and quieter.

Be careful when buying the stuff in Tescos or Asda.
I noticed that both of them have been selling off the carburettor version cheap, rather than the fuel injection version.

I bought one in error, and didn't notice until I read the small print on the back. :o

Anyway, I am going to use this stuff to soop up the lawnmower. :D

The one you want looks like this:

Unless you have a diesel, then you want the diesel version. :D:getmecoat:

I second the post above. I have used Redex for 40 years in all my cars, petrol and diesel... A tip for you............... Before you go for your mot take the fuel filter off and empty some diesel ou, then put a dose of Redex in the filter and refit.Take it somewhere quiet, second gear and take it up to 4000 revs twice .Guaranteed to get you through the tesat. Wont do it any harm.
