What are the odds...
Driving away from my small village in France in my dealer launch, came across this rare beast.

This is a 100th Anniversary Edition 75, basically a Connoisseur SE fully loaded (not a single option missing), in Chatsworth Supertallic, with Vortex alloys and premium grille.
Was released in a limited run of 100 units, available only in France, Germany and Belgium. This one is #14, CDTi with manual transmission.

Nice to see another in Chatsworth. In fact, it's the only Rover version I have ever seen in that colour, although there were supposed to be 143, compared to 9 ZTs, of which I have been the proud owner of one for 11 months. Anyone else in the Club have one? Mine's a Cdti ZT+ Auto with black Alcantara interior and all the goodies except SatNav.

Here's a web page (in French) where you can see pics of the 100th Anniversary special edition when it was unveiled at the Paris motor show in 2004. On one of the pics you can see where the plaque with the commission number is located (centre console ashtray lid).
This special edition was obviously commissioned to be identical to the V8 show car that was on display a few months earlier.

I would not of bought one because it has no light oak hand break grip lol. Would of been a deal breaker with the dealer ha ha.

I was puzzling over how they had been managing to make rover 75s for 100 years...:duh: Then I got it :D.

Unfortunately not my cup of tea though....

They have factory fitted walnut window switches, and a walnut centre console lid.

I have never seen one other than in pictures, very nice indeed :)

Sorry rich but they don't. I've never seen any proof yet of the existence of factory-fitted walnut window switches, to me it sounds like an urban legend.

I have seen the walnut cubby lid, one came up for sale on eBay a couple of years ago. But the switches I have never seen either :(

You can see the switches and just about the cubby lid.

I've seen those before, but where is the proof that these were made by MGR, and available from them at any time whether as accessories or factory-fitted?
They look no different than the walnut trim pieces we can get on ebay or here from some members. And the walnut color on the window switchs doesn't match the walnut color of the dashboard. If it were made by MGR they would at least have gotten it right.

There is a huge variance in the colour matches of genuine mgr walnut trims though

Hi Nicolas, there was a factory in France who did a custom made cubby lid box in walnut for an OC member. Did you get the chance to invite the owner to join the OC? :) Beautifully maintained.

I agree, my dash doesn't match my wheel, handbrake or gear lever. It doesn't match the centre console trims either.

There is no evidence to the contrary of them being manufactured by MGR either. If they were available aftermarket, they would have been more popular that Simon's stick on trim.

Yes they would have been indeed! I imagine the people who have used the walnut trim from Simon will be frantically searching in hope of finding these one day!

That's a nice car, and I've got one!!!

In the Netherlands they had 20 rover 75's 100th anniversary edition.
10 2.5 and 10 2.0 cdti all in pearl black with full options and the V8 grille.

The chrome of the grille of my car had been stolen and i modified it with mesh wire and some 3m chrome.
And the previous owner sold the 18 inch vortex

I know that the wooden cubby lid is a rare Belgium option.

Bas, that's a cracking looking car. But what is that list showing on your bordmonitor? Is it available radio stations from a BMW radio module?

Simon

Bam
7th July 2014, 20:25
Yes correct that's a list of available stations.
But I replaced the radio for a radioguy one, not for the sound because this one has got a HK set but because of the rear camera. ( the DDin run's over the HK set).
I believe the radio is an original Rover one no additional parts from BMW.

These are the factory spec's (from http://www.mg-rover.info/get_info.htm? )

Why on Earth did they not release them here? Given how the French love us lol why sell it only in 3 countries?

Yes correct that's a list of available stations ...
I believe the radio is an original Rover one no additional parts from BMW.

The OEM high line radios on UK Rovers don't provide a list of available stations, but a BMW I owned briefly did. I'd be interested to know from Radioguy how the available stations list has been made available on the MG Rover style graphic display (because I want it too!).

Thinking (purely) outside the box. I wonder how much it would cost, if you could convince one of the owners to part with it, to bring one back to the UK and convert it to RHD http://abcbristol.sytes.net/bill/i/forums/chinny.gif
