Engine Light Flashing

My engine light was Flashing tonight after starting the car...... has not been started since Thursday last week. Felt a little lumpy when idling for a few mins. The light was not on for long though about 5 flashes and went off again. Took it for a run and everything seems fine. :shrug: any idea's anyone.

Are you referring to your 1.8? Mine did exactly that when the inlet manifold gasket had failed. Would be interesting to get an obd read done.

Just done ODB, all clear.

Good news then. Mine showed a misfire on cylinder 2 (I think it was 2). That was the one with traces of coolant in when I removed the manifold. Are you losing any coolant?

Losing no coolant, oil, nothing.......

Gasket failure seems unlikely then. Maybe best to wait for the next cold start and see what it's like then. Could be down to a weak ht lead or tired coil pack.

Mine did the same, but this was on the M6 after about 70 miles so it was certainly not cold. No problem since thankfully. I think the car was just in a playful mood and wanted to keep me on my toes!

was it the engine fault light or the engine emissions light?

You almost certainly need a software update, contact your nearest T4 operator. Don't worry about it :)

I agree, my 1.8T did this when new to me, software updated, problem never returned.
