View Full Version : Head unit memory / wiper when key removed

Hi,

I swapped over my headunit yesterday and everytime I remove the key the stereo loses its radio stations/position on CD.
I removed the old head unit without disconnecting the battery.

I have tried swapping yellow and red wires to no avail.

Also when I switch off the ignition and remove the key the wipers do a single wipe. It wasn't doing this before... Is this related?

I guarantee you've got the perm / switched live on the head unit confused.

Does it also lose it's memory?

If you try to draw any real power from the switched live, you get this BCU "pulsing" thing where the wipers wipe once when you turn the ignition off. If you make sure the switched live is just being used as a signal (as it would do, wired up correctly), you'll be fine.:}
