Evening Peeps,
My aunt has brought me round a poorly lappy which she has been given off another family member but without the original drivers and is a bit "wobbly"
I have formatted it ok but I have conflicts in the device manager.
I have no display adaptors to check but in retrospect I have these issues which kind of make sense.....

Other devices :
Multimedia audio controller
PCI modem
USB controller
Video controller

The model is a MD2592 and the only site I have found bar medions requires payment !!

Is there an all in one type of download I can borrow from somewhere ?

Muchos gracias :D

If you have Windows installed Microsoft often have their own proprietary drivers that seem to sort and run most things (until a better one is found, that is ;))

If you have access to the internet via the laptop then run Windows Update and see if it finds drivers for you to download.

Do you know what motherboard the lapton has in it? Because often the manufacture of said motherboard will do drivers for PCI and USB.

Try this link for the PCI Modem driver http://www.soft32.com/download_185867.html

Is that for the modem si ? I have connected a spur of the router and it tells me it is unplugged.I know the router and cabling is ok as our lappy uses it.

Thats a driver from (what appears) to be the modem manufacturers website.

The other problem may be conflicts in the BIOS causing the problems you are seeing. I don't know how much you know about BIOS and how to fiddle with it though... :(

Thanks for your help anyways mate, I have used driverguide and d/l some files but none seem to be doing the trick. Not to worry think this is over my head

http://www.sis.com/download/

This is the main download page of the motherboard manufacturer. Use the three boxes to select Windows XP then select the areas you need from the next box and finally the specific version (ie motherboard) from the last box.

Sometimes the selft-test screen (the very first screen you see when you switch on) will give you motherboard information. Alternatively, press "DELETE" whilst on this screen to enter BIOS where you can also find information. Be careful if you've not used BIOS before because you can do some nasty things if you're not careful...

No probs mate.

I would offer to come sort it out for you but I'm hardly local :o

If all else fails I'm sure a local computer shop will sort it out for a small fee.

Unfortunately not so far as I know. Print screen wont work either i'm affraid as at this point during start-up the computer has no knowledge of the keyboard or printer etc.

Camera? That's about the only method I can think of to get a shot of the screen.

Good to hear things are getting somewhere

Usually the motherboard manufacturer drivers are the way to go to solve driver-related problems. You can then change the drivers one-by-one for more specific requirements afterwards.

Seems strange that the PCI and USB drivers are causing conflicts - these are the two I'd have thought would give you the least problems.

Keep perservering with the downloads from SiS and hopefully it'll get sorted.

I think that model was also made by ASUS and I am pretty sure the motherboard in that laptop was made by FIC international, (a M785) so you could try the drivers here:
