We've got another great spot this year. We're at the top of the newly finished Colquhoun Square just above the Ice Rink.

The bottom of Sinclair Street is closed at the moment making it a right pain to get to our location from the A814. So the best route for the convoy from Dumbarton will be via the A82, heading towards Helensburgh at the Arden roundabout on the A818. Head straight down Sinclair Street until you come to the first traffic lights (and possibly the closed bit of Sinclair Street). Turn Right on to West King Street. Then left in to Colquhoun Street and the top of the Square. Either Glenn or myself will be standing on the corner in our Hi-vis.

If the weather is as good as last year it's going to be a great day.

Any more for Duck Bay? Let me know so I've got some idea of numbers for them.

It sounds like there was a misunderstanding with the meeting/ departing times. They worked perfecty last year so the same arrangements were used for this year.

misunderstanding ....yes well to start with it was this

Date; Sunday 30th November
Meeting Point: Like last year, It's best for the organisers if we arrive as a group. (Tima and Glenn will already be in Helensburgh from early morning to marshal) The group will

leave at 1115hrs from;
ASDA Supermarket car park,

Please be at the show no later than: 1145 hrs sharp.

So I was there at 10.30, eventually someone did turn up (new guy In the Grey car) and he was told meet at Asda AT 11.15 am (not leave at 11.15)

then after getting in touch with Tim, I was told .. not to arrive at show till mid day ..so went off and got a coffee, came back at 11.30 to find not a single person

apparently while I was away getting a coffee, the rest did turn up and went away ...was luck that someone else turned up, and knew someone to contact as to what was happening

So yes a bit confusing when there is conflicting information being posted, texted or on Facebook or whatever

Might be an idea to pm someone's phone number to those that are going ...in case of changes to plans etc

But was a good day and enjoyed the fireworks and the rest of the displays stalls

do not want to keep going on about this as the day was not spoilt by it...but you learn from mistake !!

I never said it was Facebook as such ...the what ever at the end you seemed to miss

and I did take the information from this site...and arrived in time to leave AT 11.15 am not to arrive at that time ...but it would seem that information was not correct or had been changed but was not updated on here

anyway enough of that ...I got there in the end :}

The only link on FB I'm aware of was on the MGWorldwide group; it was a link to this thread and I put it there.

As far as the situation at Dumbarton goes; the arrangements were a "cut and paste" from last year when they worked fine. What happened there? I don't know as I wasn't there and neither was Glenn.

On arriving at our pitch I found that the street was congested with churchgoers and stall-holders vehicles. I put forward the 12:00 arrival time in order to allow for these vehicles to disperse. I was concerned that if I hadn't here would have been a queue of 75s and ZTs causing traffic disruption along West King Street while we waited for spaces to clear.

As it turned out, with the cars arriving in blocks of one or two, we were able to manage the small space we had much more effectively, and without upsetting any of the neighbouring stall holders (or the God-fearing folk of Helensburgh).

As one of the organisers, if the hastily amended arrangements did mar anyone's enjoyment of the day then all I can do is apologise. Sometimes the circumstances mean you have to improvise a little and that's what I did.

Personally, I thought the day went off very well, we had a lot of interest in the cars and quite a number of club flyers were taken too. This is the first time the new Colquhoun Square layout has been put to the test and I know it was a learning curve for the Winter Festival organisers too. Hopefully next year we'll all benefit from this year's experience.

Hopefully next year we'll all benefit from this year's experience.what happened at Dumbarton was what has happened for every Loch Lomond shores or Helensburgh festival meet (in the 6 that I have attended).
Members form up for an 11.15 departure.
Today I arrived at 11.10 and 2 members cars were there.
We waited till 11.35 then set off.

I think a twenty minute wait was fair enough.

I hope it was as good as last years and sorry I couldn't make it through. Aso for the departure I am sure last year was similar although it was George that was late! :getmecoat:

But once he arrived he showed us all the way! :D

Hi Gary,

Tim Burgess and I would like to say thank you for inviting the 75 and ZT Owners Club to the Helensburgh Winter Festival 2014.

It was a great location and the cars proved to be popular with all age groups making us busier than last year.

Please pass on our thanks to everyone who was involved in organising the event and for making us feel welcome.

I hope we are welcome to return again next year. If this is possible please let me know so that we can add it into our plans for 2015.

Thanks again
