Hi,
Just thought I'd let everyone know about a strange electrical problem I had after an engine out clutch change on my MG ZTT 160 KV6.

- Everything went back and I started the engine ok and let it run until warm.
- The next day it wouldn't start, there were no dashboard lights except the oil and ignition lights on all the time but dim.
- I checked all the fuses and wiggled all the wires and got it going again for a few minutes but it stopped again.
- After wiggling a few more wires I noticed a spark behind the engine bay fuse box.
- The engine earth strap wasn't bolted in securely, tightened it and it's been ok since.

I just thought I'd let everyone know as it seemed to me that a bad earth can manifest it'self in many odd ways.

Years ago my father in law phoned to say his throttle was stuck on his car,
I went round and found the cable had melted where it was through the bracket on the engine.
I checked and the earth strap to the bell housing was broken.
The only route for the negative was through the throttle cable!!
No wonder it melted.
