Before I go and pull the wrong injector... number 4 is closest top the passenger side wing yes?

Yes. The definition of cylinder 1 or the 'front' of any engine is the one nearest the crankshaft pulley.

Hi Guys,

I dont know the answer to the question, which cylinder is 1 on a M47 / CDT but I know without a doubt that its very wise to check as on some engines no 1 is definately not nearest to the crank pulley.

I'm sure a T4 guy will answer this presently.

another quick tip is to vacuum the area before pulling the injector.
and bung the open ports for the air intakes etc to prevent bits falling in...

Another quick tip is not to desolder the secondary processor in an NNN100720 :p:

Number 4 injector is closest to the battery ;)

I'm sure it was the SMD rework station at fault..............

Just check first, if you do any work on a French designed engine no 1 could be at any end. Working with Renault back in 1986 that era of engines mainly had no 1 at the flywheel end.
Again always worth checking!
