Hi
can any one here recommend a good place to get the transmission oil changed in my 75 CDTi somewhere in London and the south-east preferably
My car has 71 on the clock and not sure if its been done before I would rather just bite the bullet and do it than risk problems later.
also what is the best fluid to get to put into the box.
Looking forward to some knowledge responses on this one

Right, are you sitting comfortably?
I think it's fair to say that the overwhelming majority of garages will use whatever ATF they can buy in bulk for a reasonable price. This will not be the same as the fluid specified by MG Rover for your automatic transmission. So you now have to decide to which camp you belong:
1. Buying expensive specialist ATF is unnecessary. The universal fluids are fine so I'm happy with what the garage recommends.
2. It's not worth the risk. I'll buy the N402 spec. fluid and supply it to my garage.
If you decide that you belong in group no. 2, here (http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=1138687&postcount=23) is a list of fluids which you can use.
Make sure that your garage knows about the special level-checking plug arrangement on the JATCO box (it's on the bottom of the casing). If they undo the wrong bolt head, it could be catastrophic.

what does the club recommend choice 1 or 2 more to the point following the conciseness of your answer what do you recommend
this is my first auto and my first low mileage 75 i want it to stay in tip top shape for many years to come.

Ooooh that's a contentious question Paul. :} My view is that, since the service interval is so infrequent, the extra cost of the officially specified fluid is insignificant. However, the sceptics may well be right. There may be no significant difference between that and the universal fluids.

I sent of for mine from Rimmer Bros, who specialise in Rover parts. My local garage were capable to change it, but I PRE-WARNED THEM ABOUT THE CORRECT PLUG TO LOOSEN
