Crossed wires?

Hi!

Driving in heavy mist today and switching on my rear fog lamps, a warning appeared on dash that nearside fog lamp had failed.
Got home and looked at the lights, both were on but the nearside number plate light had failed.
Anyone else had problems with wrong warnings appearing on their display or does my car have faulty wiring?

The number plate has probably been out for a while, there could have been a loose connection on the fog lamp between the bulb and the holder causing an intermittent warning light.

As Trikey says and also worth cleaning the bulb and lamp holder contacts.

Both number plate bulbs have to fail to bring on the lamp failure warning.
