Hi,
Ive recently developed a drivers side rattle on my Facelift CDTi ZT, sounds horrid, only seem to get it on really cold starts, and goes away after about 30 seconds or so, and remains totally silent until the next time its been stood for a few days.
Im in three minds:-
1) waterpump
2) Crank Pulley
3) Tensioner
Now, it had a new Corteco pulley about 50k ago, and a new thermostat too.
I can see any coolant leaks anywhere.
Would a water pump stop rattling when it gets warm?
Can tensioners rattle, or do they just get noisey and rumbling with age?
Really dont want the drama of another Crank pulley replace, but having said that, its a darn sight easier than the Water Pump!
Anyone got any thoughts?
I suppose I could spray water on the crank pulley and see if the noise changes.
Also... It seems to rattle a TINY bit more with the A/C on, which makes me suspicious!
Could the A/C induce a knackered water pump to make more noise? Seems unlikely.
THanks
