Exhaust Heat Shield

Hi Guys
Heard a bad rattle from underneath my car today, on investigation I find the heat shield above my exhaust has broken on both sides and all split and hanging down and hitting the exhaust, is it safe to remove? has it happened to anybody else on the forum and what did you do.

Most of us have had this happen, just refit with large penny washers, remove the bolts, then refit with the bigger washers;):}

Reminds we, I left mine at work today whilst changing subframe.

My heat shield has probably already been recycled into a number of drinks cans. Never really understood the point of them.

poked a couple of holes with screwdiver and cable tied it back up as a temporary quick fix,, that was a year ago, still in place, makes you wonder why you need heatshield as the cable ties havent melted away!!

Thanks guys, all sorted now, just got to wait for the next thing now, seems to run in weekly cycles, must know when the weekends are coming round.
