K series engine temperature sensor

This is actually for our '55 reg ZR 105 , but I suspect the same widget is used on the ZT etc .
I have just replaced the coolant temp sensor to see if it will help with a cold starting problem . I bought a oem MEK000030 , advertised as suitable , but when I got the old one off it is a BMW 1433 076 .
Car seems to like the MEK000030 version , but just wondering if anyone knows if they are identical . Looks identical :shrug:

If the BMW one worked OK, then they must be identical.
All the K16 series use Part Number MEK000030. Maybe your old one had been fitted after market?

Interesting thought ! Though the car has only done 38k miles so 2 replacements needed is getting a bit much .
I was intrigued by the part number BMW 1433 076 , which is indeed a BMW part according to t'interweb sources , and wondered if BMW supplied a lot of bits whilst the company was in their ownership ?

Yes they did, the majority of electronic items in our cars have Bmw stamped on them.

All of the MEK000030 sensors I have here (OEM, from a trusted source) are BMW branded too. :)
