View Full Version : Slipping Clutch & Flywheel Change

Guys,

I have a slipping clutch and wondered whether the flywheel should also be changed at the same time.
My 75 is a V6 2.5 tourer which drives like a dream and I'm keen to keep it on the road as long as possible.

I have been quoted £350 labour plus parts, does this sound reasonable or should I seek other potential suppliers?

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Cheers

Robbie

Hello there,
Your flywheel will normally be fine - even on the diesel they last well, and have a lot less vibration and stress to deal with on the smooth V6.
£350 labour is OK for a specialist, but if it's your standard garage it's a little on the expensive side.
I have the clutch kits for the V6 here, including an LuK Slave and Borg & Beck clutch. They're here:
Clutch Kit - Rover 75 1.8T and 2.5 V6 (http://www.dmgrs.co.uk/collections/clutch-transmission-parts/products/rover-75-v6-2-5-mg-zt-v6-2-5-clutch-kit-with-slave-3pc-rp1068-uub100193)

If you're after a fit-and-forget solution, use the drop down to add a Master Cylinder too. The whole lot is done, then. :)

Hi DMGRS,

The whole lot gave up the ghost in the outside lane of the M25 last Friday midday in a huge traffic jam!

No clutch and the pedal on the floor.....

Thanks to the Mway police and a helpful NHS biker I was saved from a rear end whack, some idiots driving at stupid speeds in almost stationary traffic when a gap appeared.....beggars belief!

Car was recovered back to Littlehampton but the whole episode took 9 hours from first call to the AA to arrival back home.

Hopefully the garage will have everything sorted by Tuesday....they are Rover & MG specialists so in good hands!

Thanks for your support, it's much appreciated.
