:new_year:
Hi, I haven’t been around for a few months due to ill health, which is hopefully coming to an end following a quad heart by-pass.Problem is that when my wife was coming to get me home from hospital my CDTI tourer wound down power on the motorway showing a message of “low oil pressure” . (Not engine oil)The engine stopped on the hard shoulder and wouldn’t restart. The car was relayed home. This was 3 weeks ago and I am just coming able to investigate. At home I turned the engine over and it fired but didn’t run. Previously going like a rocket.
The rear pump is running, the front pump not.
Fuses checked.
Pump disconnected and plug checked for voltage,-nil.
Where do I go next?Any ideas? Tank 3/4 full

try giving the under bonnet fuel pump a gently tap....

check the plenum then for a drowned ECU

Will do that in the morning, 'tho I do a regular plenum check, so should be dry

Will the car start with easy start??

The engine fired when I tried it but didn't run. With that and the pump not running it is certainly a fuel problem. The engine is in excellent condition and I wouldn't put easy start into it. Thanks anyway for the suggestion.

If the rear pump is running there should be a 12V supply to the front pump, as they are wired in parallel.

Wire a 12V feed direct to the UBP and see if the car will start

Was thinking of that, whether it would be safe. Should be.

White/Purple is +ve and black -ve

As I say they are wired in parallel, strange for one to work and not the other.

Plenum dry, ecu clean and dry. Pump slaved in direct from battery and ran fine. Engine started first time and ran perfectly. Now to find out why no power to pump.

A common break point in the loom is under the fuse box in the engine bay or up under the front wing

Thanks for the diagram Brian and the pointer David. Tomorrow's forecast to be very wet and the car is outside, so may be a couple of days before I can continue. watch this space.
