Hi All

Im looking at replacing the glass thats scratched on Chaggy.

Has anyone done this, can give a guide on how to take the glass out and refit?

I believe there are different levels of tint that left the factory and have read this can be found as a code on the bottom left of the glass?

Seen plenty of replacement glass on ebay, but some dont state the tint code.

Thanks all
Jub

Tint code? That's a new one on me.

The number printed on the glass is the production year.

I have never noticed a tint code, some glass marked 'rover' and some marked 'splintex'

Number 6 is a type approval code.

Oh right ok, so a 75 and zt has the same tint?

Here's a pic of mine:

Which is the same on the auction.

The front ones end in 50.

I did it the other day and did a how to but I had some photobucket problems and the pictures are not here. Ill show you in pictures, it takes ten mins if you can use the tools.
Take off the door panel.
Pull the plastic trim off the inside of the door frame, just the side where the handle is.
Lever up the sweeper trim from the handle side and remove it, the one that brushes the glass.
Gently pull the foam draught seal away so you can see the bolts on the glass clamps, they're 10mm.
Slacken the bolts a little, not much, just a few turns.
Connect the switch pack up and lower the window about halfway.
Lift up the glass from the handle side and it will come out.
Put the new glass in and slide it down.
Power the window back up and tighten the clamps.
Put the bits back, job done.

Hi guys,

Im interested in doing this but have a couple of questions:-

1) does the top inside black trim HAVE to be removed? Whats the reason for this, as the gap looks quite big between the two trims, enough to get a pane of glass through at least!

2) It looks like you got away with just peeling back the top of the fragile foam water shedder, is this right, or do you have to remove the thing totally to get at the bolts?

Cheers!!!

just undo the 2 clamp bolts, then with the window 25 % up and rotate the glass forward, it will come out... no stripping of trims or guides...
