View Full Version : Heated seat elements

I've been pondering sticking a set of new seats in the car, heated ones. But looking at the rimmer brothers web site etc... is it possible to buy the elements and retro fit them into my current seats? Or is it a case of the seat has to be a certain one and all that kind of stuff?

Got the half leather/cloth seats in and i think i have the loom? All the heated seat wires are in the centre console (fingers crossed!)

Many thanks

Stu

Try a set of these old chap, very easy to fit and warmer than the standard ones... just put a pair in my Zed and well happy, they are just connected up to the supplies from the heated seat switches...

How good did the quality of this Chinese kit appear? It's half the price of the German kit, but I know the german kit is good

I think it is fine, just been on it in fact while refitting my sun roof blind...

the elements, switch, cables (inc fuses) seem all well made and extra cotton material is provided for wrapping cable runs.

They get very warm and I have to turn them down to 1 before the timer runs out so I don't par boil me Gilse's

I would recommend them...

May well do the same in mine. Klarzy, from what you say I guess you used the toggle switches that come with the kit rather than standard 75/zt ones?

The switches in the car stay... they are 15 min timers, the toggle (flat rocker) switches that come with the kit have 3 positions, off I and II... I put a hole in the side of the seat plinth for these..

Oh I see, good thinking! I guess that it would be possible to bypass the kit switches altogether and wire the new seat heaters via the standard rover wiring, and just hard wire it to position II?
Basically I want to replace my cars heated leather seats with a set of cloth seats that I plan to add heaters to.
OP, sorry to hijack your thread!

I would not, I think the switch has some control of the wattage going into the elements...

here is the switch and each seat only took me 90 mins to convert...

the heat switch is on the far left..

I leave it on II and use the dash switch to turn on, if it gats too warm then I switch down to 1.

Not at all Rich...
There is another seat thread recently posted where I give you full accreditation... just passing on what I learned from your original efforts ...

Different supplier... upper class for a softer, less abused bottom..;)

and is it not the purpose of the forum to share and emulate the better customisations?

Through these hard leather seats?

I do often wonder about changing to cloth, but sandstone cloth scares me.
