FBH does not work anymore

My FBH does not work anymore, I put a new fuel pump but nothing,Last winter it was all ok

I tried to test, the fan runs, but does not smoke, does not work

opinion please?

It might be a fault with the PCB. Mine would not work so I sent it to Frenchmike and he tested it for me, turned out the PCB was ok and when I put it back on the car it started working again so maybe a bad contact or just taking it off and replacing it did the job :shrug:

Frenchmike has a good reputation for repairs to these boards and won't rip you off.

I'm sure members with more experience will be able to help out if it's something else

It's under the plastic cover on the right side looking from the front of the car, just four screws, there will be a "how to" on here.

I was glad mine started working again now winter is here :bowdown:

Maybe the new pump needs priming, remove the fuel pipe where it enters the heater and check for flow. it only squirts a bit at a time.

As Oldcarguy above mentions, the pump does need to be primed, but it is not like the old SU pumps going continuously once connected.

The FBH fuel pump is a single stroke positive displacement pump, and you need to rig up a 12 volt supply to it but not touching. Connect an earth as well. At present, you seem to be going through the pumps pre-start safety checks, but failing to start because there is no fuel in the FBH.

To get fuel to the FBH, the pump and delivery pipe needs priming all the way along to the FBH. This is done by stroking the 12V lead on to the +ve side of the pump connector with momentary touches. Each touch activates the pump's single stroke and a small slug of fuel is drawn into the pump and pumped onwards along the delivery pipe to the FBH at the front. It takes about ten strokes of the pump to fill the line to the FBH. (I suggest you connect an extension pipe on to the FBH end of the fuel line, and place the open end in an old pop bottle to save the fuel going all over the engine).Make sure you get some fuel into the pop bottle, showing the feed pipe is fully primed.

Once fuel has filled the pipe, then connect it to the FBH fuel pipe. In case you have reached the third unsuccessful start, you should reset the FBH control by removing the yellow 20 amp fuse under the bonnet, wait about 10 seconds, and then put it back.

You should now be able to start your FBH, proceeding through the pre-start checks and continuing into the ignition mode. It sounds like a small jet engine and you will soon feel the water pipe coming out of the FBH getting warm, and the exhaust pipe as well. Make sure there is enough clearance between the exhaust pipe and the adjacent intercooler pipe, to prevent the intercooler pipe being burnt.
