My clutch failed last week and so I had a new cylinder put in which sits under the pedals.
I drove exactly 10 kms., roughly, and the clutch failed completely again and so I was forced to creep along in first gear for several kms. There was no way I could even get the gear lever to move even though I tried via engine revs. technique.
It was a painful and horrible trip into a local workshops.
What had happened was this.
The cylinder end connection is a plastic bit with a hole in it.
The mechanic fixed the cylinder after he had connected this bit. The unit is fixed via bolts to the inner bulk head and is a fiddly adjustable job apparently. Since he had connected the plunger first, he then broke or cracked it which cause the failure after I used the clutch several times .
The secret is to mount the cylinder first prior to connecting up the end plunger plastic piece. :duh:
