Much of a job on an MG ZT CDTI?

It looks like a piece of debris that fired across the motorway this morning that I couldn't avoid has done gone put a hole in mine
Well that's what I'm assuming the 6 litres of oil in the car park is trying to tell me :duh:

Didn't the Undertray stop it?

I just saw it in the car park.

I've only got half a tray, I'm guessing it's clattered up behind

what a nightmare.

Messy isn't it.

You certainly aren't having a lot of luck with that car. Hope you can get shot of the gremlins soon.

Over the past 4 years I've had 100,000 miles trouble free, me thinks it's been saving everything up to have a massive fit on me.

Damn, the Sump looks pretty tough on those... Actually has 2 parts to it.

Thought I would post this for your info: http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID001736

Not going to cheer him up much though.
Hopefully something available from a scrappy.

Local scrappy, £45 for the whole sump assembly, that'll do for me.

Poked a camera underneath whilst it was in the flatbed, nothing that'll win prices but enough to make me think just the sump plate got taken out.

Half width it looks like something has scored the plate front to back, will know better when I go under for a look.

I see where you mean..... :(

But to me it looks like your Undertray has been butchered...???

I think this just goes to prove to the people who prefer to remove them because of the extra 10 minutes to take them off to Service - certainly cheaper than what you see has happened here!

Maybe it wouldn't have saved the Sump, but my money would be that it would have...;)

But sorry to see this Mr Longbeard. :o

The tray was mostly like that when I bought it, never gave it a second thought.
Besides sooner that plate than whatever it was flicking up further back and hitting something else, 6 litres of oil is a darn bit cheaper than 60 litres of diesel.

at least your subframe etc is nice and protected with a nice coat of oil :getmecoat:

Yep, just looks like the plate has been damaged - the rest is probably fine.
Your undertray has definitely been butchered - if you follow the edge, you can see where it's been cut poorly. James May wouldn't like that handywork. :D

Find a 2nd hand tray (original trays are best, with the most sound deadening and best materials) and get it secured with a set of these:

I wonder what hit it to cause it to fracture like that.

Was it as simple as unbolt and bolt new one straight one? or new gasket too?

16 bolts & a new gasket (£10) join jobbed.

While on the subject of sump covers, were 2 different types fitted to the CDT? My tourer has one the same as the picture above, but the project one is different with a round indent on on it, hard to explain:

Not a good picture but you can just about see the round bit Im on about.
