The Arden Green 75 project ive been mauling with came with the sunroof motor burnt out and jammed in position. The glass was was stuck about an inch lower than it would normally sit and Mr Bodge-it had covered it in silicone.

As a temporary solution I have removed the burnt out motor inards and replaced the motor housing so I can now manually operate the sunroof via the hex key. I have also removed the sunroof blind and cleaned the runners of obstructions + greased.

The problem I have is im not sure were the closed position is?

Does the sunroof sit Flush, Slightly lower or proud of the roof?

Does this look about right?

As you can see the silicone is a mess, does anyone have any cleaning tips for getting it off?

Also I have now sourced a replacement motor, is this just plug and play or is there a method to calibrate with the sunroof position.

You can buy a silicon goo removing product, search the net to see there are quite a few. they are intended for use around the home, kitchens and bathrooms and certainly work. My concern would be for its effect on the paint and other materials involved in the sunroof.

My sunroof is flush.
I have had some silicone remover that was useless and I ended up removing it the hard way, picking it off and rubbing the remainder with a cloth. It takes time but doesn't damage the surface.
Good luck.

My Sunroof is flush - of course I can't be sure that's correct :-)

The correct setting for the sun roof is slightly low (1mm) at the front, and slightly high at the rear. If closing by Alan key, the correct closed position can be a little difficult to determine, but I think you will find there is a slight pause in movement when you reach the closed position.

Thanks for replies, I set it slightly higher at rear than front and no signs of it leaking. Happy days.
