View Full Version : Watch this space for Northants Meet

Paulym
13th February 2015, 16:11
Hi All

Started the ball rolling for the second Northants meet.

If we can get an idea of numbers sooner rather than later then all the better. Pitch in Lads and Ladies and give us a clue as to preferences we are looking at mid March time so plenty of notice.

Would be great if we can top the 15 attendees from last time around. As far as I am aware we should be able to look forward to T4 sessions at the very least on the day and we are working on more "Items of interest" to appeal to the membership. Nothing is in the bag yet but as the header says watch this space.

Location for the meet http://www.sywellaerodrome.co.uk/

Date is confirmed as the 22nd of March.

Dent repairs are now off as there has not been enough take up to make it viable for the supplier.

EVENT DISCLAIMER

Please be aware this is not an official 75 & ZT Owners Club meet and as such is not covered by the Club’s public liability insurance. Also the Owners Club take no responsibility for the meet/event in any way.

Bacon rolls and fresh coffee about 11 AM is now planned at a very reasonable rate please post if you would like to take advantage of this.

Hello guys and girls,
Just to put some further info on to this meeting,ALL MEMBERS ARE WELCOME ! the enquiry has been made, and the month of March seems to be a strong possibility.
Can we have some interest for this meeting as the venue is fantastic, standards are really good and the last one went well, in addition to this would anyone be looking for specialists to attend, for example dent ticklers, dash trim / upholstery repairs. An idea on these levels may well encourage some local business to attend and perhaps offer services at a group price rather than the full on price to pay individually as a one off.
Any ideas would be appreciated and to gain the level of interest for numbers!
ALSO Phil T-4 will be there for the day doing his magic !
Thanks again, John H.

Thanks for the interest so far, all looking good.

We have confirmed dates available are 8th 15th and 22nd. At this time I think we can be quite flexible so it will be helpful if you can post to confirm dates you can attend so a list can be started.

Hope to see you all there.

Hi All

Nice to see so much interest in this for the second time around. Feedback I have had from attendees at the previous meet has all been really positive.
As the 15th looks like it is going to be a bomb I think we will have to drop that as a potential date.

Maybe we could look at a mobile valeting service on the day. Not sure how practical it will be but if anyone that is planning to attend is interested we can look at this as an option. We will need to see about permissions from venue etc.

Morning all

We have added the names now (see thread starter) and although date is yet to be 100% confirmed it is likely to be the 22nd. I am waiting on a mail back from the venue. Once I get this I will post to advise.

As we are looking to get a guy in for door dings etc. it would be great if we can get an idea of numbers interested. Having had experience of this type of service being performed at Kings Lynn last year it can recommend it to you. Both the special discounted price and quality of the results made for great value. The more people that are interested the better position we are in to negotiate and deal. :drool4:

See you all there.

Hi All

Have made some changes and added some more names to the list. Lynyrd Skynner and Harrisop48 will both be in attendance.

Please check out the Thread Starter for the latest details. There is a small down downside, unfortunately there has not been enough take up for the dent guy to make it viable for him to attend this time around. I am sure this will not detract from the overall atmos. Plenty going on through the day. T4 stuff and it looks like my own 75 will be getting a bit of treatment too . I will leave you in suspense over that one.

I would ask that you please post if you are good for the Bacon Rolls. I am sure the ladies will not leave you dissapointed.

Hi Guys N Girls, a really encouraging response here, and looking forward to a good day with near and far members!
I would like to remind you all, that Phil T-4 will be available with his box of tricks, this will allow for various treatments to be carried out, ranging from health checks to the famously brilliant 160 for the diesel versions. Phil can offer all kinds of services (Car related) and so if you wish to have any work or checks performed it may be worth dropping him a PM to discuss your requirements.
I have a few bits and pieces booked in to do, and will be tooled up for that, and may be if time allows I may be able to offer a hand to others.
I will also have a spares package with me.
Looking forward to a great day, meeting up with a good crowd at a nice venue, fingers crossed for good weather!

Not sure on that one I see no reason for restrictions however we are right at the side of the airfield so as long as you are confident there won't be any problems with wandering out into the strip should be OK,

Hi All

Just a couple of notes for you all. I hope these clear any confusion. Let me know if not. :}

Kick off will be at 9 or thereabouts. :D
If you can come and find me on arrival I would be grateful.
There are name badges and tickets for the Bacon & Coffee.
We have the use of a room in the Aviator which is conveniently next to the bar!
Refreshments will be about 11AM onwards.:drool4:
Their will be lots of stuff going on.
For main meals the Aviator itself is excellent. There are a couple of other local offsite attractions where I am told the food is also good. Horseshoe (In the Village) and the Garden centre (Opposite direction):drool4:
Finish is whenever you feel like it. :getmecoat:

Finally I would like to say Thank You in advance for your support and I hope you all enjoy and benefit from the day.

Well what can one say about our visit to Sywell today, it turned out to be a very nice day, lots of cars turned up meeting people and putting names to faces, absolutely superb.
We came up Saturday and stayed in the Aviator Hotel, superb value for money food was excellent and staff were very friendly comfortable nights sleep, complimentary breakfast.
Now the meet itself, had a 160 upgrade to my Connie, by Phil-T4 going to fit it tomorrow, and John H fitted a new compensator to my V6, that man is a superb character he can **** for England, I would like to say many thanks to both of you taking your Sunday to do these jobs on our cars, also many thanks to Paul or putting this together, had my Vis motors checked and found the Balance Vis was knackered so will have to deal with that one at a later date.
The biggest letdown found water under the rear foot wells when John peeled the carpet back, so will have to give that one some serious thought.

Many thanks to one and all for a very. pleasant day out you have made it by turning up.

Had a great time this afternoon in the sunshine chatting with everybody. Managed (finally) to get my new wipers on and new dipped beam bulbs fitted. John H sorted me a new handbrake lever to replace mine who's spring has broken. I'll get to that next Saturday I think. Phil lined up to fix my embarrassing HP pump leak as well: honestly it's only a little bit - just seems to make such a mess though! Gave in and stopped at the jetwash on the way home and cleaned it up a bit - apologies for turning up with such a filthy car today.

Also had a chat with some of the guys that turned up for their own mini hotrod meet. A rather tasty ford anglia (fiesta st engine inside!!!), a (volvo) rear engined mini, and big block v8 mustang 8.2 ltr @500+bhp !:drool4: , not that the cortina was anywhere near standard either, just didn't get to have a look at that.

Looking forward to the next one when hopefully I'll have a nice clean car with nothing needing doing (pull the other one ) and I can just relax and chat and help out other members if needed.

As above, truly excellent meet well organised by Paulym with assistance from John H.:bowdown::bowdown:
Masterstroke to park in front of the 5 Nissen Huts comprising the Aerodrome Museum. That did a wonderful job keeping the cold wind off.
Huge thanks to John H for resolving my intense Bunny dip handbrake. Imagine the so severe left hand lurch it caused, when applied, with the subsequent hugely interesting rippling effect on the young lady's chest.
I will leave that thought specially for Championdaddy, knowing his penchant for young ladies.:getmecoat::getmecoat:Now a non-snatch, calming application of the handbrake at 5 mph brings the Tourer to gentle stop.
Huge distances travelled by some members to attend this meet. The winner is Les from Sittingbourne, Kent. Ulterior motive to have H/B compensator fitted by John H. Julien must have travelled 85 miles for a 160 U/G by Phil, plus the bonus of a romantic W/E with delightful Dawn.
Therefore huge smile on his face on the way back to Egham. All that power!!!
Excellent and informative Tour of the Airfield Museum. All in all, a cracking day, enjoying the wonderful company of so many 75 and ZT discerning owners.:}:}:}

Well said Peter.
This in my opinion is what should be happening across all areas every so often. I know Paul has put in some efforts to achieve the quality days out for us, the atmosphere at Sywell was brilliant, we all had an enjoyable experience to the best of my knowledge. I hope that this is an example of how it can be done, and I hope that I may be able to offer more input and help in to such meetings in future. A good spread of owners with different car style including individual tastes.
Again Paulym was the star of the show for pulling a great number of us together for a fantastic day out, and a thanks to all who attended and made the meeting a good one!
Peter Harrison - I have your blue coffee cup at home, and will bring to the POL for you to be re-united.

Hi All

I am pleased to hear so much positive feedback I am really glad to know that the meet met your expectations. We hope to be a little more organised next time and dedicate a bit more time to the members that all took the time to show up.

I cannot say enough to thank everyone that contributed to the overall outcome on what was luckily a very bright and warm day. All captured for posterity by Flo, Chris and others.

Although I came out quite a few quid short at the end of it And didn't even get my own roll. (totally my own fault). I am humbled to think that my small effort was so well received. This will remain a lasting memory for me.

My own personal thanks go to......

Paul D for his time fitting headlights despite the challenges.
Harry for the scrivets. a real life saver.
Phil and John for basically getting stuck in.
And also for the Shannon tube donated by.. well I am not 100% sure but thank you sir.
I can't miss Peter out for the torch, beer and chat
Last mention has to go to the chaps in the museum for the impromptu and unbidden offer of the (I am told) entertaining guided tour. I missed it unfortunately but wil be front of the queue next time

There willl be another event and in the intervening time we (JohnH and I) will be looking to find a dent master to provide a service at reasonable cost. We will also be looking to negotiate a deal with the Aviator for lunches.

Muchos Gracias Senoras and Senoritas.
