ECU problem?

Hi, I was wondering if was worth sending my ECU unit away for checking, my 2.0 CDTI has not started on 3 occasions in the last month, the fuel pump not coming on.I have a bit of wire that I can connect from the battery to the pump and bingo I'm off again , swopped the relays over so don't think that's the problem, the plenums appear to be dry but can't think of anything else?, frustrating thing is it's working just now.

is it that the pump is failing and your bit of wire kicks a little life back in.... I would try a new pump first...

No, everything seems to be working as normal,haven't had to use the wire for over a week now,pump is ok?
