View Full Version : Spring Classic Car Show , Duxford 3rd of May 2015.....

Would anybody be interest in this meet ?

The cost is £ 10 per adult and £5 for kids 5-15 pay on the gate ,this gets you admission to the whole of the Duxford complex ,
if anyone has not been before its a great show and being one of the 1st big ones of the season lots of cars turn up normally around 800 all makes and models , as a club we would have our own dedicated parking area , everytime I have been there is always a Spitfire or 2 or something doing a flying display during the day which is always fantastic to see and hear .

please note this is not an official 75/ZT owners club meet and is not covered by the club insurance and the club takes no responsibility for the meet.

So up to you guys and gals ....?

I'll endorse that this a great place for a meet having been last year. My only reservation was lots of other groups were allowed to show their club insignia flags but not us.

A missed opportunity to promote the club IMHO.

But back to point, I'm down for two meets the weeks before (POL & Cheddar).

If I'm not too exhausted I'll be there.

Strange a group of 6 mini owners from one part of the country managed to raise the money for a policy last year.
OK a years £5 million policy might cost a small fortune but a one day policy ought to be relatively cheap.
Surely the club could afford a one day policy to help promote the club. At very least they might gain enough extra subs to pay for the insurance policy.

Also had this email from Duxford this morning...

" Dear all

I hope you are all well and looking forward to Sunday 3rd!!

Just to give you some information for the day, gates will open at 9.30am, and will remain open for entry until 2pm. To try and reduce queuing on the A505 and to hopefully get everyone in quicker we have introduced a new queuing system, so please be aware it will not be the same as in previous years. Entry will be through the same Gate (Gate 1) which will be signposted from both directions. Please also note that due to the closure of the American Air Museum this year some pitches will not be in the same place as in previous years, as usual your members will be shown to their pitches on the day by our marshals

Entry costs will be £10.00 per adult and £5.00 per child (between the ages of 5- 15)

Please also note that Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVS)/ Drones will not be allowed on site and anyone using one will be asked to leave.

Please let me know if you have any questions and I look forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks "

Best wishes

Just to give an idea of our proposed routes in.

I see this years Duxford meet is under "new joint management" hope they can guarantee as good or better weather than last year. Not much too ask, last year's weather was exceptionally warm and dry, so I'm really looking for Sun bathing at tomorrow's meet.

Thanks to John H for supplying me with my new dash, I can't wait to fit it. As an aside, if anyone wants a wood dash in the Newmarket area, there is one in the Beck Row scrap yard. Going on my recent purchases he'll want too much for it though.

It was great seeing so many 75's/ZT's together, Flying Banana is an excellent example of what can be done. I like a bit of personalisation!

Many thanks to Lynyrd Skinner for organising a fantastic day out. I don't know if we hold the record for the longest journey (180 miles from Newport) but myself and my son had a really good day out. I would have loved to have spent more time talking cars with those there but I promised James he could see the exhibits and the other cars so we went walkabout. Luckily Mr Peck was kept in line by Mrs Peck, so were able to leave without apologies!

Don't know if we can make the August one, but will see if I can get a pass from the management.

May I take this opportunity to thank our attendees for being kind and friendly towards my Mum who joined me for this meeting, she had a good day with us and other exhibitors. She felt welcomed by beejay, peckster123 and Lynda, flying banana to mention a few !
My reason for typing this is to give some gratitude. My family was rocked to the ground back in May 2011 with the horrific loss of my Stepfather "Ron". His life was destroyed in hospital following surgery, slowly but surely his body was closing down, we elected to turn him off from life support because he would never recover from the damage that the hospital neglected to see or address.
After several years of fighting the NHS for an admission of negligence the London based solicitors and barrister are now in a position to win a case for justice, and in a measure that will never compensate for our loss, but to bring an awareness that "Missed opportunities" and "Lost opportunities" will never ever garnish the facts that we witnessed negligence and incompetence in an un-measurable fashion, and like no other staff employer in Europe they consider themselves untouchable if they screw something up! Folk lose their jobs for petty things but the NHS can do what they like? & continue doing so without being compromised? Not with us they can't !
During the same time, my then 8 week old son was fighting for his life at the other end of the hospital with undiagnosed issues, my little boy lives on and I love him to bits.
This is why those who met my Mum and were pleasant towards her need thanking from me, she had a great day, just need to get past the 7th & 8th of this month as best we can.
Thanks guys.

we told them we do not want any money, we just want an apology, a "we messed up and were sorry, this is what we have done to ensure it cant happen again"

Pete, I fully understand your concept and purpose, however there will never be any apology from them, they would only go as far as accepting negligence. Thus compensation will be the only form of apology you could ever get. They really have no soul at all. So in principle the £ wont cut the mustard or replace the loss, but they will have a loss to bear financially, and this day and age money talks ! My Mum will have some stability, in the absence of Dad.
This sounds like money grabbing, but it really is'nt. Shes lost a business, a brilliant house and a loved one due to inept staff who treat humans how they like. Even domestic animal owners can be arrested for mis treating a dog!
So whilst the NHS waste their resources on inept staff, management who can't manage a bath and so on, the way forward is to bring a case, and work it in to them hard hard and harder to put their monies wasted on dirt, into a more deserved and tourchered hand.
Sorry folks, just how we see it.
Good luck with your case Peter.
