As reported in an earlier post, I recently had to be rescued by Green Flag because of fuel starvation. The gauge registered a quarter full but no fuel to the engine, all indications were the famous Filter Separation.
I went through the procedure of getting a "White Clip" off e-bay (Orange Clips are not currently available) and fitting it. No better but in doing so discovered I had no petrol! Also learnt how to remove the back seat with the help of a broom stick, that there is a fuel release valve in the engine that is good for checking fuel supply and that Green Flag are not as good as AA at diagnosing problems.
The gauge is now hopelessly inaccurate, all over the place and was obviously wrong before I disturbed the filter.
Is this a known problem? Any information please on how the level is detected and transmitted. I fully expect to have to live with it and reply on the trip meter to monitor fuel. Thanks
