View Full Version : Traction control problem on a diesel ZT-T

I have an almost fully loaded ZT-T facelift CDTI 135.
Within the huge spec, it has Traction Control and Cruise Control.

Recently, I have noticed that the Traction Control logo comes up on the info screen at start-up although it does go off again almost immediately.
I don't remember it coming on previously and I have had the car since 2009.

However, during this time, I have had a few instances of the light coming on when driving and this is accompanied by a marked decrease in road speed.
I tend to think that it mostly happens on left hand corners under acceleration such as a sharp left hand turning slip road onto a dual carriageway although it has happened on the straight under ( not excessive) acceleration.
It also occurs on starting away from rest at junctions, etc.
It is easily resolved by taking the foot off the throttle and slowly increasing again.
So, it's not all the time.

I have looked at the Haynes manual and it seems to only refer to Traction control on V6's and makes no mention of the M47 diesel.

It would be great to find a solution to this as, you can imagine, it is disconcerting as this speed reduction could occur at some inconvenient time on the motorway for example causing some poor *** to run into the back of my car.

Does the fault lie with the Traction Control unit?
Is there a BMW replacement control unit that is suitable?

Hope someone can assist.

Ta muchly!!
