View Full Version : Xenon Burners

I have just purchased these

1x Rover 75 / MG ZT D2S Xenon Burners (Pair) - 4300K / 6000K. Replaces XBI000040 - 6000K - Pair

What are the opinions on matching bulbs, (6000K), for the Main Beam, and Sidelights. I don't want to land up with 'Yellow' looking lamps on the other lights.

The reason I have gone for 6000k Burners is that I am told they give a 'Bluey Tinge) and my car is Wedgey Blue 2 (How sad is this idea )

Hi Ronnie

That's a great look Ronnie. Can you quote me what the other bulbs are to match the 6000k.

I also like your DRL's. They look great. I'm interested in how you mounted them.

As usual your car looks 'Blingy Great' ;)

Thanks Alf, drl's long gone now, took them off. They were mounted into the bumper. Sidelights, these (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-CANBUS-ERROR-FREE-8-SMD-LED-XENON-HID-PURE-WHITE-W5W-T10-501-SIDE-LIGHT-BULBS-/310884116060?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item486223265c)
and for main beam, the only way you can get matching colour is with led bulbs. I got mine from China, very bright & white :cool::D

Hi Ronnie

Thanks for that. I will chase them up.

I'm not sure about fitting the DRL's. I'm considering having 'Halos' fitted, so I think this would negate the DRL idea !

Cheers

Hi Ronnie

Have ordered up the LED Sidelight Bulbs. Thank you.

I'm not sure about the headlight bulbs though. Can you advise.

Thank you for your help

I may have mentioned this before, but I am quite happy with OEM 4300 HIDs and plain ordinary sidelights and main beam. They are plenty bright enough (the science says the 6000K are not as bright as the 4300 which is why the factory chose 4300) and as for the "yellow look" - I am inside the car, so I don't see it.

However, each to his own. :)

Hi again Alf, don't know if you remember the bruhaha caused last time I mentioned my Led headlights, so I'm a bit reluctant to advise anybody on them now :o Anyway, this is how they perform, http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af195/suzublu/Mobile%20Uploads/258E2397-9799-4C7C-8F3A-EFFD1E07C311_zpsswvamvkd.jpg (http://s1007.photobucket.com/user/suzublu/media/Mobile%20Uploads/258E2397-9799-4C7C-8F3A-EFFD1E07C311_zpsswvamvkd.jpg.html) Dipped, then Main, http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af195/suzublu/Mobile%20Uploads/67E751D1-AC7E-4715-8F6E-9D601D7EADC6_zpsvti65hco.jpg (http://s1007.photobucket.com/user/suzublu/media/Mobile%20Uploads/67E751D1-AC7E-4715-8F6E-9D601D7EADC6_zpsvti65hco.jpg.html)

suzublu - sorry if I was part of the problem last time - are those dipped lights LED - I thought it was just your main beams? Whichever they do look impressive.

Thanks Ronnie,

I Likeee. ;)

I have just ordered a set of OEM Xenon Headlights complete (Xenon Technology marked on inside) ;)

They will also have 'Halos' fitted, so that should negate the DRL idea (Not Sure ? )

All I will have to do is match the bulbs to my liking. Of course it's a 'Bumper Off' jobbie, but a couple of 'Members' are doing it for me, set up, etc. ;)

I will then recondition my 'OEM Xenon's, and sell on to balance costs.

Thanks for your help and advice

Cheers

as for the "yellow look" - I am inside the car, so I don't see it.

With that logic, we should never wash our cars either. Or care about what colour they are! :}

Further to 'DRL's uncertainty, would I be able to connect the 'Halos' up in such a was as to act as 'DRL's themselves.

At present I understand they will work together with 'Sidelights'.

yes they can be wired in this way so they are ignition activated

Klarzy has the option to run as DRLs or sides

I went for the latter and then turn them on manually ; gives me something to do!!

klarzy
14th March 2015, 11:39
if they are wires as sidelights they are not required to dim when you put your dipped on, if you have them as traditional DRL's then you need to add a switching relay and a resister to each side.

there will just be a positive and negative on each light that you can wire to a switched supply, relay or dimmer, your choice... positive will be red, negative blue...

I would recommend if you want them as true DRL's buying a controller from Halfords or ebay etc.

any one will do alf, 12v at 0.4 amps full brightness is all you need.

TBH I have never needed to fit one as all of the lights I have supplied are done as side lights, on with the switch...

Good idea to supply them with lights in future, though.

if you can wait a few weeks I have just ordered some that dim 50% and should fit INSIDE the headlight so you can have plug and play and only one lead to connect up to a switched +

as you can not wait the ones I send you next week will be on as sidelight (mine went through MOT with these lights fitted)...
I will add to that an isolation switch so that you can turn off the DRL halo's and present normal standard lights if required.
all in the same plug and go headlight unit...

You won't be disappointed, Alf.
I have a set on the ones that Ronnie recommended and they give off a much cleaner light. The originals look quite yellow in comparison.
