After recently getting a set of Black Leather Sports Seats fitted to Ed, I now want to change the dash to Walnut as I don't think that the Rhodium goes with the black leather! :(

I have done a quick search, but nothing comes up, what (if any) special tools do I need to do the swop please? :shrug:

Here's a guide to removing the dash :}

The whole dash just pops off except for the passenger airbag cover which is held on with 7 torx screws and the eyebrow which is held on with two star headed screws. so you'll just need the right torx screw driver.

Easy to do having done it quite a few times now :)

Rick :)

Mark, have you also considered the Black Oak dash? It compliments the black leather quite well as found in 75 Contemporary cars. Just a thought :shrug:

Just do it Mark, it looks lovely, (of course I would say that) :drool4:

Black oak, like technical grey and light oak, fits where it touches, and does nothing for me I'm afraid ;)

Just remember to change the clock over on the dash. Otherwise you end up with a red 75 clock and a grey ZT dial set. Not a good look.

It is part of the heritage.
All MG sport saloons should have a dash like that!

Thanks for everyone's input! :}

Looks like I need to add a couple of new tools to the tool box! ;)

As I wanted to be era correct, I've gone for a full set of plastic walnut, (which would have been available as an option on Ed when he was new) and I'm afraid that the Black Oak does nothing for me and wouldn't have been available on a Mk 1 anyway! ;)

As for clocks, the set of wood I've managed to obtain, doesn't have a clock, so will have to swop Ed's over anyway! :}

Tools wise all you need is a screw driver for the centre console bits. Pliers to unclip the cigar lighter leads. Security torx for the airbag panel and clock screws and a pallet knife for the dash bits.

Take your time and be careful.
