Can anyone tell which offender is producing this noise?

The car is shuddering more at idle so i was thinking pulley, but noise seems more like water pump area :(

Anyone ?

Also, anyone able to fix this in swansea area on a real short turnaround??

:(

Sounds like the pulley, although the rattle may be the water-pump as well. Pour some water over the belt and pulley, if the noise goes away it is the crank pulley.

I have a new one fitted that may be slightly unbalanced and even that is slightly noisy. My old one was only just getting rattily and was badly split.

Craig.

I did about 200 miles between hearing a noise and changing it. If you do get it changed, use a Cortec (land-rover) unit only, all the other have a very high failure rate.

i cant find the cortec one on eurocarparts via mg zt , but this seems to be the td4 one - anyone confirm this is ok to fit?

Update - seems the mg zt one comes up alongside this one under td4, so they should be interchangeable. hope my local has in stock for a garage if i can find one...

That looks correct, DMGR has them cheaper but not sure about delivery time. No there is no key in it and it is not a left hand thread. Just very very very tight!!

Save yourself £30 on a Corteco brand crankshaft pulley when compared with ECP and £20 with carparts4less (a ECP company) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ROVER-75-MGZT-FREELANDER-2-0-CDTi-TD4-GENUINE-CORTECO-ENGINE-CRANK-SHAFT-PULLEY-/151487666547?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&fits=Car+Make%3ARover|Model%3A75&hash=item23455e5973

We have the Corteco items here: Corteco Crankshaft Pulley - 75/ZT CDTi (http://www.dmgrs.co.uk/collections/pulleys-tensioners-and-idlers/products/rover-75-cdti-mg-zt-cdti-oem-corteco-crankshaft-pulley-damper-lhg100750)

It's worthy of note BGA have brought one to market, and after we've had a few on test with no problems we now stock them. Seem to have a quality finish, and are well priced too:

Due to horrible noises and 1000miles to do next week, I had to get from euro car parts locally who got one down from Cardiff be 12, found local place to do it bug while on ramps we found some sheared bolts between some bracket and block relating to drive shaft too?? C
So pulley sorted, but have I now uncovered another impending failure due to things waggling on breeze for a while elsewhere :(

Has the vibration and noise gone ?

Not got it back yet, he has to drill out the sheared bolts from the steel plate the bracket was bolted to, then fix that and bracket back on I believe, I didn't see all in bits as had to go back to work. Any ideas of the bits concerned, I think it's an intermediary bearing housing under engine to support offside driveshaft etc..?

Update, pulley replaced and noise thankfully gone so correct diagnosis. The sheared bolts were 2 that supposedly had a dual dowel and securing function, holding a cast bracket which supported I think part of the driveshaft going to offside. He also found a number of flywheel housing bolts missing, and one I think between manifold and turbo or turbo to exhaust, I forgot to clarify, but he said it was blowing because of missing one.

Sheared bolts we suspect may have been a failure brought on by a front ender which eventually led to bolts failure. I do know it's had offside damage at some stage so this would make sense. Not a fun time.

Take the belt off and check all the pulleys for play and roughness - if the water pump is causing the noise it will have play in the pulley.

The pulley noise will mask the water-pump rattle. change both, as well as the main, ancillary, belt.
