Does this belong in the ICE forum?

Anyway :)

Only tested on TomTom GO (300 and 700, should also work on a 500 & a One), unable to get this to work on Navigator or Mobile, alas :(

Simple to do, right click an image, save as splash.bmp on to the Desktop of your PC. Plug your GO into your PC, find splash.bmp, rename to oldsplash.bmp, copy new image over.

Enjoy :)

Very nice Rich! :D

I use CoPilot on my Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC/ Telephone and have the Rover badge logo as the wallpaper.

:iagree:

If you replace the suspend.bmp as well, then it will be shown during shut down, too. Any BMP file in a size of 320 x 240 should do the job.

Here's another one:

I didn't know that!

Another great logo, cheers Juergen :)

Mines called 'splashw' when I replaced your saved .bmp and renamed the old one I just got a blank screen.

I wonder what I'm doing wrong.......

The resolution of the BMP file must be exact. Even with the right width of 320px but a height of less than 240px it won't be shown.

Which TomTom do you use? Maybe the screen has a different resolution.

BTW a JPEG doesn't work either.

Yep, you'll need 480 by 272 pixel, assuming the display of the 500 is the same as of the 510.

... there you go.

http://sfld.de/r75/RoverClaim480x272.bmp

This one is 480 pixel wide and 272 pixel high, so it should be good for the 510, 710 and 910, too.

Glad to hear it works fine. :)

It has been linked (use "Insert Image") to another web space, because it's too big for the Image Gallery.

Done!

My Hi-Line Nav screens

http://www.midnightphotos.co.uk/userimages/full/3/5216.jpg

http://www.midnightphotos.co.uk/userimages/full/8/5217.jpg

These work fine on the 16:9 screen but would need the aspect ratio adjusted on the 4:3 screen

ensure that the new splash file is called 'splash.bmp' not 'splash.bmp.bmp'. Right click and look at properties for full file name if you are not sure.

I looked at the splash image I removed and it was a green map image. All ok but it was sideways on if you see what I mean. I rotated the new image 90 degrees clockwise and all is now well.
My new image is displayed on start up and shut down as I dont know if my tt has the facility to have a different image on shutdown. Wey hay happy days :D

Hi Lates

Maybe you should give IrfanView a try, it's not only a viewer but really good stuff (www.irfanview.net (http://www.irfanview.net/)).

I thoroughly recommend this - I have used it for years it is very very good.

Changing Lates pic to 320 X 240 was not simply a matter of resizing as that would have altered the aspect ratio and the picture would just have been squashed.
I created a new document at the correct size with a black background then copy and pasted the centre of the original onto the new document.
That could have been done in almost any paint or drawing package. Providing you have the size options for new documents.

Paint Shop Pro is good for this and I believe you can still get a free demo version of the program.
