polishing cloths

i have recentally read you should only polish a car with a 'lint free' cloth. is this correct. i always use an old t shirt or something. i seen to get loads of little bits on the car doing this. does a lint free cloth stop this??

Best thing to use for buffing are Microfibre cloths.

(Tesco) Yes they are, they are very thin & quite small but seem to work ok.

Lint Free means they don't frey or bobble leaving bits of cloth on your car.:)

Another fan of Tesco MF's - after 4/5 washes they become useless, but for that price you can throw them away.

the "Kent" ones from Asda are also very good. IIRC its 6 for about £3

I got a few Microfibre mitts from SuperSavers of all places. They also do cloths as well as the mitts. Can't remember exactly what I paid for them but somewhere around the 60p or 90p mark each if I recall correctly.

Polish with proper cotton cloth (not shirts) then buff over with the microfibre.

I find cotton cloths don't have enough bite to remove polish residue.

as above asda ones are very good as is all the maguires stuff you can get it from halfords . the speed detailer is very good
