Hello Guys,

So for the English guys, doing my best!

PICTURE!!!!!! http://oi61.tinypic.com/2zs20rp.jpg

I got a warning on the HUD that I had failure with the Anti spinn and the ABS, thought it was the sensor so I lifed the car and saw that the cable had loosen (Nr 3) and that it therefore had probably been weared of on the tire.

I checked with my local repair station that are really cheap otherwise, He wants freakin 200£ for jus the sensor and than atleast 200£ for the work.

Do I have to change the whole cable and remove it from Nr 1 (see picture) or unplugg and plugg in from nr 2?

I opend the front and was able to see where it was connected with the blue plug. I found one but it seems short? How come the repair guys says that he pays almost 200£ for it. Will this work and how do I change it?

I am not use to do anything more than changing lightbulbs and I find that hard with my hugh hands so I am not that good with fixing stuff on a car, but will I be able to do this? Unplug+plug?

As always, the help is appreciated

What is the typical hourly rate where you live? The garage will want to replace the sensor, that can be tricky on the fronts, but worst case would only need the front hub removing to press the sensor out from inside. Shouldnt take more than an hour for a garage with all the equipment. A good quality sensor might by £50 so if your mechanics are on £150 an hour then it might be right.

If it is only a frayed cable, and doing it at home, i would just repair the cable. At least you would find out that way if it is just cable.

Certainly check all the connections first - I had the same problem on a Discovery and took it to one garage who plugged it in and the message came up "Pump not working".

They say that'l be £900 for a new pump please

I decided i wanted a second opinion and so left it until I could get to my regular LR garage. They got the same message on their box of tricks but it then told them to apply 12v to the pump which they did and it fired up no problem.

The machine then asked them to check the ECU which they/it did - again no problem.

It then gave them a diagram of the wiring with 5 (I think) connections that needed to be cleaned and checked.

They did that and bingo! light out. And the cost ? - the chap was charging me £35 for an hours diagnostic and as the problem was sorted in 20 min there was no extra charge. He used the rest of the time to check everything else.

ABS worked fine for the next 7 years i had the vehicle.

When I think I could have been stung for a new pump!:duh::duh::duh:

By anti spin, I guess you mean traction control. If the ABS sensor at the hub has failed it will show the ABS and TC warning lights on the dash. If you need a new TC actuator, £200 is quite cheap.

If all you need is the ABS sensor, they are from £15 to £50 depending on supplier. I've used 2 of the £15 ones from Ebay on my cars and they have been fine for 2+ years. If you need the complete hub assembly because the magnetic ring has failed then that would be a lot more money.

Front sensors are tricky to fit but I've done them myself in an hour or so. You do need to be very careful not to damage the magnetic ring on the hub itself but it's certainly doable by a competent diy mechanic.

Okey, I am confused by all your answers since I am not that technical when it comes to cars.
It must be the connector that I showed the picture on that has failed? Or what else are you talking about?

I just realized that the picture i posted did not work, here is a picture of my problem!

HELP ME :) What do i do?

Is it possible to just change the thing that is broken on the picture or do you think the problem is somewhere else?

Can I use a http://www.teknikmagasinet.se/produkter/ljud-o-bild/bilstereo/tillbehor/elm327-obd2-bluetooth do solve what is wrong?

Hi yes just change the sensor! Ease that bolt out carefully not to snap it in the hub! Doesn't matter if u have to brake old sensor in order to get it out.. clean out hole so new sensor fits in easy.
Plug connection is just on other side of inner wing access from under bonnet.
I wouldn't pay 200 for that no matter where i live..
Best of luck

I am not supprised you are confused by some of the answers, people putting in analogies for a non English speaking person is just silly.
You may be better off having a look at some of these posts and then come back with a question or two.
