View Full Version : Remote T4 concept

Just wondering if anyone has thought about this or has done it. The idea is to be able to have a T4 in a different location to the vehicle and hence perform the diagnostics, ideally via a smart phone. So it needs some connectivity of course but I don't know what sort of hardware would be required to connect to the car and connect to a smart phone or tablet/ laptop.

Is the person concerned worried about overwhelmed or have they worked out how to do it remotely without people knowing?

I think the information you refer to is shown in Google forum search here (http://www.google.com/custom?client=google-coop&cof=AH%3Aleft%3BCX%3ARover%252075%2520%2526%2520MG %2520ZT%2520Owners%2520Club%3BL%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fwww .google.com%2Fcoop%2Fintl%2Fen-US%2Fimages%2Fcustom_search_sm.gif%3BLH%3A65%3BLP% 3A1%3BGFNT%3A%23666666%3BDIV%3A%23cccccc%3B&hl=en&adkw=AELymgWs9D-8-D5w4nJg2O5pmlAww6fsCA05Xr2R_-wDJXtUXgvT2aG88NPOznYR-Dp0NmUMAUjUCrqhbWiLG1aQJKyu00-ToxSbqt0LXAn4qsV-Xftfe123C9Aw7KxV2I6JWkGoYrAxNTXNni0ekQOM2kQ-IVcJOw&cref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Fcse%2Ftools%2Fm akecse%3Furl%3Dwww.the75andztclub.co.uk&q=Remote+T4+diagnosis&btnG=Search), certainly there are several discussions relating to remote and virtual T4 services.

That would be fantastic - I hope it's moved forward.

Last time I checked the topics, it wasn't so much the difficulty of settings this up. Bt the biggest problem was the stability of the internet connection when wiring up with the car. The OBD -> SB signal from the laptop connected with the car, needs to be transferred via internet to the T4 laptop, any connection error will means that the date isn't transferred properly. And I don't think you'll be happy when the ECU gets funky because the data hasn't arrived correctly :P.

I read that a member from New Zealand said that T4`s were next to none in their country, is it the same for you John in Oz??
Have you seen these:
http://www.pscan.eu/
I have one, quite interesting and the chap is a member here although not allowed to sell.
I am only posting this link as a matter of intrest for a fellow member and not as advertising an item for sale.

I have been considering that item a while ago (I think you gave me the link...?), but I couldn't find a clear list of what I can do with it. If the owner/seller reads this, I think it would be a very big + if there was a list on the website that clearly shows what you can do with that tool.

Did you follow this link (http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=186808) from the one quoted above?

Thanks for putting the link in Chips, I have just been back and re-read some posts by Pscan, It`s a great shame he left us.
Did you/anyone buy the diagnostic tool concerned?? it`s getting like I`m almost afraid of saying it`s name ....and the whole forum come crashing on my head :D:D:D

I bought one. It does what I need. It found errors that no ELM scanner/standard OBD scanner (I'm talking about ebay 'torque pro' scanners) would show.

I can reset service intervals as well.

See here for details of what it can display - http://pscan.eu/features/.
It gives me live data like a mini T4.

I got one Andrew, one the first actually, I was an early backer when the "Kick Starter" program had Phillips project going, only a small donation but it got me some discount when the units came out. I had it bring up a faulty ABS sensor on the rear nearside wheel.
For anything that is likely to be a serious issue we still need the T4 guy`s but this is handy and intresting.
