View Full Version : Climate Control Query. No AirCon after re-gass.

Had my ZT's AirCon system re-gassed on Friday. Then Compressor failed to activate. 12 Volt supply to the Compressor saw it's Clutch Engage and Spin. Suspect the Switch is not switching it on for some reason.

The Climate Control display shows Er in some Climate Control settings but not all. Could this be the restricting problem in some way stopping the Compressor from activation?

Meantime I have obtained a Switch from a 75 in a local yard.

The switch is not likely the problem, however you could have incorrect system pressure which will stop the clutch from engaging - not sure if this would trigger an error on the ATC though. As you have work done on the gas and the problem started then I would say it's most likely pressure related; they could have under or overfilled it. Take it to an A/C specialist and they'll be able to check if the pressure is correct or not.

:iagree: :wot:

The climate control error display doesn't include the compressor.

RAVE says that 'er' in the RH temperature window means that there's a fault in the k-bus link to the BCU.

How did you achieve the 12v supply to the compressor clutch mentioned in your first post?

Whichever switch you're talking about, if the compressor clutch is engaging then I'd say you're wasting your time and money replacing it.

If the refrigerant charge is too low or too high, that switch will prevent the compressor from engaging. You seem to be saying that that is exactly what has happened following a "re-gas". This is pretty strong evidence that your practitioner has not done the work properly. You need to get the refrigerant extracted and weighed. The correct amount is 450 ± 50g. Is your practitioner is one of these people who just presses the 'start' button on a machine and goes to have a cup of tea?

I'd say that the 'er' fault is unrelated.

Hi John, regarding the ER in the display did you know you can force it into diagnostic mode? It will run through a self test and if it has an error it will end with a fault code.
Have a read of this thread http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=46

Don't you think that it's an incredible co-incidence that your trinary switch has, according to your air con. man, become faulty at exactly the same time as the system was re-charged? Isn't it more likely that the refrigerant charge is to blame?

Go along with his plan and when he extracts the refrigerant, make sure that you see if it is the correct amount: 450 ± 50g. If it isn't, then it would be pointless replacing the trinary switch.

I don't think we have ever come across a faulty trinary switch on this forum.
