What is this bit hanging from inside my 75 boot lid please?

I do believe it's the emergency boot release from inside the car, if you can't get in the boot for some reason from outside, drop the back seat & pull that handle:}

Correct, but is it only me that wonders what do you do if you are carrying a really big box in the boot at the time? :D

Ah, then you need the MG/Rover (or not) patented boot release gripper:cool:
