Well that special time of the year is approaching :band:( Oh no not another one!) and SWMBO has suggested she buy me a car polisher.
Not having ever used one before I wondered if any one could recommened a particular type and also advise if they are a) worthwhile and b) damaging to the paintwork?

Cheers

Well there is a lot more to it than you might think.

If you buy a polisher from say Argos, it may well help you buff up a nice shine, but it wont be capable of any paint correction and have the ability to removes swirl marks and other paint defects.

A decent random orbital polisher such as the porter cable, sonus UDM or the megs machine will probably cost you around the £150 mark and then you need to buy different pads for different jobs.

You can buy a rotary machine cheaper but in the wrong hands they can burn through your paintwork a lot quicker , whereas the the orbital polishers are more user friendly.

Take a look at the site below under "car care advice" for more info.
