Please note I shall be no longer selling Dye on the forum. I have a few outstanding orders that I will complete. I will still be occasionally selling on ebay in the short term

I thank everyone who has purchased it and hope that it has made a difference to your car where you have used it.

Thanks Stubie, bought some about six months ago for a really crappy steering wheel.
Made all the difference, drive about 2-3 hours a day and it's still looking good:bowdown:

I hope the decision isn't due to recent comments.
I've used your dye Stuart and found it ideal. I also wondered if you can do dyes for leather suites?
So if you have decided to stop selling here are you available elsewhere?

I'm not making a personal remark but I hope you do reconsider and just think that it may be better to think becoming a trader with all the advantages it brings .
Good luck though whatever you decide on.

Same here, made an tired old light oak wheel from a scrappie like new. Impressive stuff.

Hi Stuart
Not surprised after recent comments!

I would like to thank you Stuart for your efforts.
You were kind enough to supply me a bottle free of charge after I mislaid the one I purchased

Thank you again

Regards
Steve

Stuart - really sorry you have decided to stop supplying dye.
I purchased some very recently and it did a great job.
Let me just add that you will be very much missed, but give yourself some space to think it through and perhaps decide to continue, as you are a great asset to this forum.
Good luck in any event.
Kind regards,
Stevie25

Of course Stuart you were never a trader, but I wish you well with your Ebay sales.

At least that way you can at least pay for the privilege of having a marketplace ;)

But just in case you are feeling hard done by, here are some examples from your Forum "shop" over the past four weeks.........

Hardly what you would call fair usage is it really?, especially as a "RED" you are permitted six for sale threads per month ;)

Now I have to say if I were a trader, that sort of activity would leave rather an unpleasant taste in my mouth :(

And the goading still continues....people have been banned for less.

Well your time spend trawling through my threads has been a bit fruitless, the alloys you link were put up for sale in September and one of the threads is nearly a month ago so rather than the 9 items you list its down to seven.

So your complaining I have put one or two more for sale items up than I am allowed, big deal.

As far as the dye goes I can say I was given permission by the mods to sell the dye as a benefit to owners, I never advertised it or directly touted for business, and I would need to sell what 25 bottles to get the same profit you made from a single 160 remap.

But now it's not only the dye. Its anything else I have for sale.

Some people think you are a good guy, me I think you are an idiot and a bully.

Excellent comeback Stuart

I couldn't have put it better myself, oh and I'm still waiting for you to come and "put me back in my cage" as you so eloquently said the last time I angered you ;)

Such a pleasant turn of phrase, from such a mild mannered, and altruistic chap as yourself.

The truth hurts sometimes, but you have used the for sale section more than most traders, and a blind eye has been turned.

Best of luck with your Ebay endeavours though :}

Sorry but if Stubie had permission from the mods to sell the dye then surely you should be tackling them about it if you are unhappy Brian? Seems a real shame things have got so acrimonious that people are packing in their much valued services.

Er Brian, reds are actually allowed an unlimited number of sales - subject to fair useage:shrug:

From the FAQ link at the top of the page:
Members listing allowance
Subscribed members = unlimited items per month *subject to a fair use policy

So if the mods are happy it looks like what Stubie has been doing is perfectly allowed:shrug:

Reds were given an upgrade to unlimited 'fair usage' a while back (presumably up to the mods as to what this constitutes exactly), I think you might have missed that. Hope this helps :}

And in the first page of threads you have started, ie 150 thread starters, 91 have been in the members spares for sale section, not including sales of multiples.

Now if that is not a blatant abuse of your standard membership, I don't know what is.

In regards to your "dye" have a look at this for a definition ;)

Leather dyeing

Usually involves the use of spirit or alcohol based dyes where alcohol quickly gets absorbed into moistened leather, carrying the pigment deep into the surface.

Leather painting

Leather painting differs from leather dyeing in that paint remains only on the surface while dyes are absorbed into the leather. Due to this difference, leather painting techniques are generally not used on items that can or must bend nor on items that receive friction, because under these conditions, the paint is likely to crack and flake off.

Now I thought it may have been my preparation of the steering wheel in my tourer which was the problem in regards the very short lifespan of your product, so I farmed the job out to another member.

The result was identical, a three month cycle of strip and repaint.

Now this I could understand if it was someone like myself with sandpaper for hands, but no it was my wife driving the car, and her hands are as soft as can be ;)

I finally had the wheel retrimmed professionally, and fitted it to my dad's car where it still looks as good as new ;)

The professional (http://www.northumbrianleather.co.uk/) who retrimmed the wheel, explained why your paint has such a poor lifespan, it simply is not fit for purpose.

And I thought that I was joining a nice place, and our cars were the most important thing.

In the 10 days since I've joined it seems like nothing but moans and groans.

Thanks for that, I certainly did miss that, anyway the fact remains what he was selling isn't dye, it is paint.

And that was confirmed by the person who retrimmed the wheel, Stuart may bluster as much as he likes, but I'm inclined to trust the judgement of the craftsman who served a six year apprenticeship with Connolly Leather Ltd.

It's just a cycle that we go through..I blame the clocks going back, we can't do what we need to do and fester a bit..It will be OK soon when we get into Winter mode..There is no place on Earth immune to a petty squabble among people that are normally friends...Welcome to the madhouse....

Don't worry Steve, it's not always this bad, sometimes it's worse

Only kidding, how are you finding the 75 compared to the 45 then?

Perhaps you can argue with these chaps who supply it.

A quote from their website, unless I am taking it out of context,

"Our re-colouring kits come with our famous leather scented aroma cards, your car will smell of quality English leather, not paint!"

I don't think we need to get into any more arguments about this subject gents, Stuart has made his intentions known about supplies, therefore going over old ground is not making a good impression.:shrug: With that, & with the best intentions, thread closed:cool::}
