Anyone else seen these?
Looks like someone has nabbed the work Steve (Arctic) put in to developing a fix for these.

Clearly, the surge in sales of ss shackles for this application presents an opportunity for others. Unfair? yes. Unexpected? probably. Commercially sensible? Obviously.

Tbh I'd still buy from the forum, eBay is still not 100% trustworthy. Not met a member on here that isn't genuine!

One stainless shackle does not a compensator make

Agree with that, I would have no idea what to do with it once I got it....

Dare you look at this thread
http://www.75ztcommunity.co.uk/modified-handbrake-compensator-fitting-oboslete-t4025-20.html

I'm not suggesting there is a connection but al least it explains how the shackle works

Commercial sellers on ebay get lots of important info for developing sales by reading the related forums. This one's just an example. And there are thousands of forums.

Well after looking at that, the shackle bought from e-bay will not just fit on, as the above thread clearly stated that the threaded portion has to be ground thinner to allow it to fit in the remaining parts of the original compensator not just put it on, I can see people buying this, thinking it's an easy fix and being disappointed, but there you go ;)

Hi Alan.
Stopped dealing with this guy way back in late 2011 early 2012, as the shackles were not consistent size and once he realised I was after a set amount he raised the price.

I therefore sourced from else where, more consistent with the size and he would order solely for me in batches and let me have how many i needed and keep the rest on the shelf for me great bloke we are now close friends.

macafee2 Hi Ian.
Connection to me most definitely as that is my thread on the Community :} as soon as i knew that a shackle could be used and i had tested it i posted how it could be done. ;)

The first modified compensator i fitted was a welded one, 27-11-11

Fitted on 6/8/11

By the 19/8/11 i was using the shackle on members cars at the nano who were very helpful in the testing of them :bowdown:as they are always with projects we try at the nano meets.

These were superseded by the SSC 2 in 8/2/12

I used to take a board round with me to meets to show the comparison from the first one fitted up the latest, how they were made and progressed over the time.

From then on time as moved on and we now have an alternative Handbrake in the link below, albeit a little longer and harder to fit.

You buy thirty of them, loop them all together and tie to a convenient lamp post after parking your car.

At least that's what the seller on eBay said

The Bini compensator is definitely the way to go, as it can actually compensate for differences in the adjustment and length between the two cables.
