Quite a change, but I have now got one of these:

http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p636/rshinks/IMG_1340_zpsf1avc82i.jpg (http://s1159.photobucket.com/user/rshinks/media/IMG_1340_zpsf1avc82i.jpg.html)

Ok, it is missing a cylinder and a few cc, but it has a front grill and under certain light conditions it does look a bit like CDX Copperleaf (at night :D).

So what do you guys reckon?

V70 is excellent, great choice and I'm sure it will serve you well, my brother has a S60 D5 that he swapped his 75 for a while back, most impressed with it, my dad also loved his Volvo's.

Mine is just the 140bhp version.
I must admit, I am finding it quite a practical car.
It must have a wiring fault though, as the headlights are on all of the time. :D:getmecoat:

BOB, What have you done

The Volvo is a great car. I had them for years. By the way it should be sidelights not head.

Anyways, back to my main question.

Do you still have your beautiful Rover 75 ? Please don't tell me you've let her go

Two cars I always fancied owning but never did, Omega and V70 (T5R???).
Both well regarded practical big cars, but my Discovery 2 just ticks all the boxes except fuel economy

nice car the Omega Steve. I remember my mates Dad had a 3 litre senator, with the electronic dash similar to the astra GTE of the day - I think this came after the Senators didn't it? - beautiful car.

I used to have a V70 in bright red a T5 look alike with rear spoiler and 18" wheels with Pirelli P1000 low profiles.

It was a real head turner and attracted comments wherever I went.

Sadly it was the 10 Valve engine and the 'laggy band' tyres made the teeth chatter !

A cracking, solid reliable car if a bit boring to own and I loved the lovely sound of the 5 cylinder engine but I always wished it had been a T5.:drool4:

Lets face it guys, Bob is a smart man, he has future-proofed his wallet, something we all should do.

The Volvo's engine may not be as attractive as his lovely 75's engine was/is.

The Volvo may not have the lovely sexy body styling as the 75.

But! the Volvo isn't going to have all the constant breakdown repair bills as the 75. :getmecoat: :D

That was one of the reasons I jumped from an already sinking ship, but I soon came back though... :duh:

Bob, you will get another, I'm sure. :D

Thanks for all of the comments guys!
I must admit that I am impressed with practically of this car and the V70 has some great advantages over the Rover 75 / MGZT range. ;)

Just a few spring to mind:

1. You can park it anywhere, rather than the other side of the car park, for fear of damage.

2. There is lack of strain on neck, because you don’t have to look back.

3. Hours of washing and polishing is unnecessary - just stick it through a carwash from time to time.

4. My son can eat sandwiches and sweets inside without me having high blood pressure.

5. SWMBO can drive it, without me pacing up and down with worry.

6. You can transport junk up the dump, without worry of wrecking the interior and making it smell.

7. There is no need to curse the tractor drivers when the lanes here are caked in mud.

Here is the car in action:

http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p636/rshinks/IMG_1374_zpsxjyapzit.jpg (http://s1159.photobucket.com/user/rshinks/media/IMG_1374_zpsxjyapzit.jpg.html)

http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p636/rshinks/IMG_1378_zps4gbtgexb.jpg (http://s1159.photobucket.com/user/rshinks/media/IMG_1378_zps4gbtgexb.jpg.html)

One of the reasons for getting this car, is we now have a spaniel puppy and I will not have it bouncing all over the seats and slobbering on the glass in the Rover. ;) :D

My Rover has served me well over the last 4 years, or so, covering around 30,000 miles.
However, with my son's schooling being a distance away I have been racking up some mileage recently, bombing around the muddy Dorset lanes.

The car can look like this:

http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p636/rshinks/IMG_1156_zpserxcjxnp.jpg (http://s1159.photobucket.com/user/rshinks/media/IMG_1156_zpserxcjxnp.jpg.html)

And three days later look like this

http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p636/rshinks/IMG_1294_zpskgnnabyv.jpg (http://s1159.photobucket.com/user/rshinks/media/IMG_1294_zpskgnnabyv.jpg.html)

Enough is enough! The Volvo is going to be the workhorse and it is time for the Rover to put it's feet up.
I am not going to get rid, as it is the best car that I have ever had!

http://i1159.photobucket.com/albums/p636/rshinks/IMG_1346_zpsjupzywzc.jpg (http://s1159.photobucket.com/user/rshinks/media/IMG_1346_zpsjupzywzc.jpg.html)

Although, I am a big car softy really - I have just got a mats for the V70 and the paint code for touching up is 445, apparently. :D:getmecoat:

I am glad you srill have your 75 as well as the Volvo Bob. Your 75 is one truly special car. It is a great idea having a second car as a workhorse. There are a couple of reasons I am unable to get a second car, first one is my wife the second one is I have no where to park a second car.

So glad you kept the 75. :D

Love the V70 - I just bought my 75 to replace a dying diesel 2003 V70 (with 266,000 miles on the clock) - wish I'd been able to get another Volvo at the right price but there was nothing in my price bracket locally.
I do still own a Volvo however - a 1994 850 T5 - I can't imagine life without a Volvo!!

My 75 carries the dog, wet or dry, coz it's my car innit. :D

That means doing whatever I need it to do rain or shine, be it lugging junk to the tip, taking me down South to see family, going to club meets, or just driving around for fun. it may never win any shows, but it gets used daily by me! (usually).. innit.... :D :D

Just an update, I have found that the puppy gets car sick and must have thrown up about 20 times now, in the back of the Volvo. :duh: :D

A good job it wasn't the Rover!

The Rover is still in regular use. I have just got back from a trip to the Cotswolds to see my old Dad in a nursing hospital.
I took the scenic cross country route on the way up, and came back, late at night, with a blast down the A34 / A303 / A350 on the cruise control. ;)

To be honest, I think that it is hard to beat the Rover on long distance runs, where it is in it's element. :}
