View Full Version : Advice on selling car

Hi I've got a manual cdti 135 in royal blue...it's done 160k but had literally thousands spent on it, and runs like a dream. Has a few scratches on it and a dent on the bonnet, could do with a new bonnet actually its easier to replace...has apex wheels tho...

The problem however is that it's in Scotland, and I am not! The MOT is due soon, but it won't fail I'm sure. How do I go about selling if I am not around? Anyone done this before?

What's a fair price for it? I have a folder full of receipts, and the car is incredible to drive, but not being able to show people or get things like the MOT done, leaves me in a right royal mess.

This car has never put a foot wrong and is ready to drive for many more miles, but how on earth can I sell it?!

I have massive sentimental attachment to this car, it took me and an ex of mine all around Europe, I don't want to let it go, but it's totally impossible to maintain three UK cars being out of the country.

Do forum members ever find cars with owners in this position? I'd like a grand for it really which isn't much, but it's had so much fixed on it that I'm struggling to think of anything that hasn't been replaced.

What the hell can I do about it!?

Advertise it on here - after all, that gives you a somewhat captive audience... ;)

If you can't get it MOT'd, then price it accordingly to allow the buyer to sort or offer to cover the cost of any repairs (as you say you're confident it won't fail).

As long as someone is able to show a perspective purchaser the car, I can't really see there being too much of a problem, as the deal can be done over the phone.
