I didn't realise this until today when I saw a Pre-facelift dark blue V6 tourer in the scrappies. The oil cooler in the original V6s isn't just a different shape - it's a totally different design - the coolant pipes leading to/from are much larger - it's effectively in the flow to the bottom hose. Call me daft (go on) but I hadn't realised they were so very different.

The original engine oil cooler has been replaced with a re-designed fluid type cooler. This new cooler could not be fitted retrospectively to earlier engines.

You can change to the later type oil cooler if you change the sump as one or two members found when replacing engines with one from an earlier car!
