I bought a new MAF will fit it sometime this week, is this just a straight forward remove and replace ?

Did you buy the genuine unit with housing or only the correct insert from a BMW unit?

Insert only I found easier to replace than the complete MAF. It is just two security torque screws to undo, but I (junior) saw cut across mine, to enable a flat screwdriver to work on the screws.
