So I really like the facelift dials display and font and the white light display.

So a couple of questions,
I know the dials aren't plug and play, how much would a T4 guru charge to get it sorted? Can the unit be used at all without T4 in will speedo and revs work?

Is the dual a/c unit also white lit, or is that the same as the pre-facelift?

I'm going to grab one tomorrow, provided cost isn't prohibitive.

If you swap the eeprom chip, make sure it supports PDC if you have it and it is not a v8 version then they can be swapped like for like...

How would I know if it is PDC and what is that? Are you saying that I might be able to just pop it straight in and it would work?

It will be diesel for diesel, same spec and engine, don't think my old eyes are up to chip swapping anymore, hence the cost question :D

If you are t4 ing it it will need a virgin program before installation

OK, let's assume I'm lost (as I am), you guys know the way around far better than me. Could you explain in dummy terms for me?

Sorry for being a bit stupid over this, first time

By far the easiest is swapping the memory chip EEPROM wich will bring your cars ID, coding, mileage etc

If you wa t to t4 it to your then the eeprom needs a factory basic program or t4 will refuse it..

Right, I get it now, it can't be programmed from scratch then unless the T4 person has a spare chip? The existing chip can't be wiped then.

If I plug it straight in, it won't work as the unit won't recognise the car, what is PDC and how do I know if the one I'm getting will be compatible, is it just a case of same engine etc will be ok or is there something to look for?

They can put a program on the chip if they have the right kit...

PDC is park distance control......reverse beepers... If you have them then look for an ipk that begins Yac 00xxxxxx

The car I'm taking it from has PDC, so happy days. What sort of charge for sorting the chip buddy?

Great help as always on this forum!

Also, is the illumination on the heater controls different if you know? Just as I can get one from the same car if it is.

everything else is usually Amber

if you like white why not replace the dials with something better...

I've got the dials, nice bargain too, £10 (untested), so who wants to T4 them to virgin for fitting and how much? South Wales or I am off the Glos today?
